Electrical Materials Engineer

Our client in Ft. Payne, Alabama is seeking a graduate electrical engineer, or materials engineer to support the manufacturing engineering group and plant personnel in applications for electrical insulation on components made for high voltage generators sold to electric power utilities. This position requires a hands-on effort working with the manufacturing engineering team and the materials engineering team to provide support for the production floor personnel. The position reports to the senior materials engineering manager. Due to the growth in electrical power needs over the next 10 years, support is needed to keep pace with these growth challenges improving the manufacturing process, product quality, and manufacturing design implementations.

Position Responsibilities:

Responsibilities include hands-on support for manufacturing processes, hands-on support of material testing activities, onsite support of electrical insulation systems, development and analysis of electrical insulation system materials, data analysis, and communicating observed trends and insights.

  • Provide hands-on factory support of existing and new electrical insulation materials and associated manufacturing processes.
  • Communicate and implement Engineering requirements.
  • Prepare Engineering analysis of test data related to material and or process quality.
  • Technical Interface with customers that use our electrical insulation systems.
  • Onsite Technical resource for back-office development team.

Position Requirements:

  • Strong Engineering skills with an interest in applications of materials used for electrical insulation systems.
  • Aptitude and interest in developing expertise in High Voltage Insulation Engineering Support in a Manufacturing environment.
  • Guide and influence team process improvements in manufacturing
  • Able to work independently and be self-directed.
  • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in either Electrical Engineering or Materials Engineering.
  • 1-3 years of experience working in an industrial environment is strongly preferred.
  • Willing to travel (approximately 20%).
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Strong data analysis skills. Ability to understand and interpret physical and electrical lab testing results and methods
