Materials Process Engineer

Position Overview:

We are seeking a Materials Engineer with expertise in composites or paper manufacturing to join our dynamic team in Rutland, VT. The ideal candidate will have strong problem-solving skills, exceptional attention to detail, and a passion for materials science. In this role, you will work on a variety of exciting projects, supporting the development and optimization of materials for Mica Tapes.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Develop, analyze, and optimize materials for composite and paper manufacturing, ensuring they meet performance, quality, and cost targets.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to design and test new materials for various manufacturing processes.
  • Conduct material testing and analyze results to identify issues and recommend improvements.
  • Apply knowledge of materials properties, failure analysis, and manufacturing processes to enhance product performance.
  • Provide technical support to other departments, offering expertise on materials throughout the product development lifecycle.
  • Monitor industry trends, advancements in materials, and best practices to maintain a competitive edge.
  • Ensure compliance with relevant industry standards and regulations.
  • Document findings, prepare technical reports, and present results to stakeholders.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Materials Science Engineering.
  • Proven experience in materials engineering with a focus on composites and/or paper manufacturing.
  • Strong analytical skills with experience in materials testing and failure analysis.
  • Familiarity with manufacturing processes such as lamination, molding, and papermaking.
  • Proficient in computer-aided design (CAD) software and other engineering tools.
  • Ability to work both independently and as part of a team.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
