Experienced Sales Manager - Premier Off-the-Road Tire Manufacturer

Join the premier global off-the-road tire manufacturer with clients in the material handling, construction and agriculture industries and small recreational vehicle industry.  As our client, they are seeking a successful Strategic Sales Manager, who has a both a strong desire and the experience to coach and develop top performing sales professionals.  Experience in tire, heavy equipment and/or material handling industries desired but not necessary.

Job Description:

As a strategic Sales Manager, you will direct a team of wholesale and services sales representative to meet and exceed their sales objectives while maintaining a growing customer base in a territory that consists of Tennessee, Kentucky, Arkansas and Mississippi.   The right candidate will live generally in the Nashville or Knoxville, Tennessee area.

The Sales Manager will be responsible for working with his sales reps to continuously improve their knowledge of the company’s product and services and to increase their professional sales competency as well as their customer service approach that will lead to customer loyalty.

Key Duties and Responsibilities

  • Coach and develop a sales team using best-practice coaching, training and assessment tools. (Additional coaching training will be provided).
  • Consult with sales leadership to develop and implement sales strategies, develop and meet budgets, and maximize sales team productivity.
  • Consult with sales managers and the Sales Training Manager to facilitate and develop coaching and training strategies for the sales team.
  • Working with sales leadership, and Information Technology (IT) identity, procure, and train sales team to effectively utilize industry standard technology tools.
  • Consult with sales leadership and sales training manager to develop and facilitate relevant product training for your Dealer network.
  • Working with your Sales Reps, maintain relationships and grow business with key dealers and users in the region mentioned above.
  • Ensure through training and coaching that all sales reps are skilled at maintaining a consistent pricing integrity within your territory.
  • Using a recently enhanced and well-defined sales process, coach sales people on designing tailored dealer and fleet presentations as well as customer-specific strategic aligned to the needs of prospective customers.
  • Observe progress of effective deployment of sales presentations and strategies and provide coaching and feedback.
  • Work with HR on the recruitment, interviewing, and hiring of new sales team members.
  • Conduct job performance evaluations. Consult with HR to formally address performance and behavioral deficiencies, when deemed appropriate.
  • Host periodic meetings/webinars to build communication and team transparency.
  • Visit assigned Service Centers to build strong relationships with the service team.

Education and Experience Needed:

  • Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university or an equivalent combination of education and related experience to include sales management experience
  • Strong sales experience required, preferably in tire industry, material handling industry, or other industries where off-the-road tires are used; some sales management experience strongly preferred
  • Experience in the material handling or tire industry preferred
  • Willingness to quickly become technically “fluent” in understanding of the product and services of the company line
  • Commercial understanding of the customer base and the services they require
  • Strong analytical thinking, interpretative, and problem-solving skills
  • Strong organization skills to complete tasks on time and manage multiple tasks
  • Proficiency in computer applications such as Salesforce, Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint
  • Excellent interpersonal, communication, and presentation skills
  • Self-motivated, ability to work complex sales, following a sales process
  • Experience using SalesForce.com
  • Must possess a clean motor vehicle driving record

  • Two days press truck training

 Work Conditions

  • Smoke-free office environment
  • Normal hazards associated with traveling
  • Exposure to various noises and hot/cold conditions at customer locations, as well as outdoors, is common
  • Travel required
