Development Manager – Augusta Warrior Project, Augusta, Georgia

 

Augusta Warrior Project, headquartered in Augusta, GA, is recruiting for the position titled Development Manager.

Augusta Warrior Project (AWP) is a 501-(c)(3) nonprofit organization whose mission is to promote the overall well-being of Warriors, their families and their communities.

As the Development Manager, you will have the opportunity to:

  • Work with a regionally and nationally recognized VSO with a primary mission of supporting Veterans in the CSRA (Central Savannah River Area), which includes counties in Georgia and South Carolina
  • Manage all aspects of Augusta Warrior Project’s fundraising and donor-development efforts, including individual solicitations, corporate sponsorships, grants, in-kind donations, charitable events, and other opportunities
  • Foster a culture of philanthropy within Augusta Warrior Project, ensuring that everyone in the organization understands and values donors and what drives them to support causes they care about
  • Work with a team of professionals who continuously demonstrate a passion for helping Veterans to become self-sustaining upon their transition from active military service

Key Job Responsibilities  

  • Build a robust database of a diversity of potential donors—individuals and groups—that may have an interest in supporting the worthy activities of Augusta Warrior Project
  • With the CEO, set goals and objectives to ensure steady, measurable progress in fund development activities
  • Develop and manage plans and schedule development activities to ensure:
    • Fundraising goals are met
    • Augusta Warrior Project and its programs and accomplishments have high, positive visibility regionally and nationally if breadth of activities expands nationally
    • All solicitation efforts target the appropriate audiences in the most effective way possible
    • Fundraising efforts are coordinated with national, regional, and local partners
    • All Development and Fundraising activities are completed on time, within budget, and at high levels of quality
  • Establish and execute processes to foster loyalty and increase donor retention
  • Develop and implement a process for evaluating commitment level of current donor base and increasing share of wallet for Augusta Warrior Project
  • Develop and implement an ongoing process to evaluate interest, readiness, and capacity of new funding prospects
  • With the Marketing Manager, develop donor-centered communications and cultivation strategies to continuously strengthen relationships
  • Provide adequate and appropriate acknowledgement and recognition for donors

 

Success in this role is measured on:

  • Diversifying our funding base and revenue streams to allow Augusta Warrior Project to become and remain financially independent and sustainable
  • Developing a strong grant program-writing campaign that reaches out to the most viable organizations for providing grants
  • Designing and implementing an individual giving program that incorporates a variety of campaigns (i.e., direct mail, social media, pledge, person-to-person, etc.)
  • Integrating a strong giving presence on website and social media
  • Fostering and formalizing relationships with corporations and foundations to realize funding and engagement opportunities

 

Desired Experience:

  • Demonstrated success in a Development/Fundraising role in a nonprofit organization, responsible for creating and executing robust Development plans
  • Proven success in donor analysis, donor development, relationship management, solicitation design, and campaign execution
  • Successful track record of grant-writing and grant management
  • Relevant experience/education in the following: Marketing, Fundraising, Grantsmanship, Nonprofit Management, or Business Administration
  • Project management experience – proven ability to manage multiple projects and deadlines
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively and productively with minimal supervision
  • Known to be results-driven and consistently successful in meeting assigned deadlines
  • Demonstrates effective interpersonal skills; ability to establish rapport with people of all types and ranks
  • Proven organizational skills, with strong attention to detail
  • A high level of discretion in maintaining confidentiality when dealing with private or sensitive information
  • Veteran/spouse/family member of military Veteran and/or passion for Veteran causes

 

Desired Skills/Knowledge/Ability

  • Knowledge of best practices in nonprofit development and fundraising
  • Highly proficient in writing and editing, especially marketing and persuasive communication
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office suite software (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
  • Proficient with donor-management software (e.g., Salesforce)
  • Strong interpersonal skills
  • Consistently meets assigned deadlines
  • Forecasts resource needs accurately to support successful project completion
  • Communicates effectively with internal and external constituencies using a variety of devices and methods (phone, email, video conferencing, etc.)
  • Generates original ideas and uses creativity to complete assigned tasks and solve problems

 

Physical/Conditional Requirements: (Travel, etc.)

  • Capable of some regional/local travel 20% of the time
  • Willing and able to attend professional, civic and social events afterhours on occasion
