Our client, Nexen Tire USA, is seeking an OEM Account Executive with a mimimum of 3 years of experience in the Detroit, Michigan metropolitan area.  Specific OEM Experience with Ford and GM is necessary.  Also, experience with tire development is a plus.  This comes with a competitive salary, benefits and an opportunity to work in collaboration with the General Manager for the Detroit Office.

 

Job Description:

   

General Position Summary: The primary responsibility of this position is to plan and manage the sales relationships; the direction, and execution of assigned customer programs, and to develop other customer opportunities, which will include prospecting and engaging new customers (Ford and GM specifically) and developing proposals and new contracts.  This position will also support the account management activities for an existing OEM customer (Chrysler), which includes direct customer contact, problem resolution, and reporting, while collaborating with a variety of development and other functional areas.

Essential Job Functions: 

a. Establish and Manage Customer Relationships: develop and maintain business relationships with all necessary and appropriate customer decision makers, experts, influencers and champions; communicate with customers and ensure that all requests, questions, concerns and issues are addressed and answered satisfactorily; visit customers regularly; and update customers on relevant industry trends, Nexen company developments and technical updates.

b. Perform Sales Reporting Functions: provide assigned sales related reports to Nexen management as requested/required; process sales data and generate sales reports; create and forward reports and recommendations to the Nexen GM in Detroit for consideration and action; document new project inquiries from new and existing customers; and perform any other sales reporting functions as necessary.

c. Perform Market Intelligence Functions: monitor market conditions, changes and trends, and competitors’ strategies; recommend counter actions as necessary; analyze relevant data to research the short and long term market trends; and contact customers in order to troubleshoot problems as they occur.

d. Identify and Develop New Business Opportunities: prospect and develop relationships with new automotive industry customers; introduce Nexen people, products, services and capabilities to additional automotive manufacturers; develop trial programs for automotive manufacturers to evaluate products; and identify new applications for Nexen products to generate additional business within the automotive industry.

e. Perform Sales Functions: achieve assigned sales targets; consult with customers on business and development issues, product needs and design research; and resolve sales or delivery issues. 

Job Requirements

1.    Basic Requirement: Must be comfortable meeting, working with, and relating comfortably to people in business and social situations.  Must be able to work beyond normal business hours and settings as necessary.  Overnight business travel required at least once per quarter domestically and 1-2 times per year to Korea.

Mechanical Skills:

  • Ability to understand and discuss automotive and vehicular operations, processes, parts and problems.
  • Ability to apply the above in daily conversation and explanations. 

d.   Reasoning Skills:

  • Ability to apply knowledge, listening skills, and sense of understanding to correctly execute detailed written and/or oral instructions.
  • Ability to deal with problems involving several variables in situations where only limited precedent and standardization exists.
  • Ability to analyze and use various documents (contracts, purchase orders, etc.). 

e.   Computer Skills: Strong ability to use a computer employing such applications as

Microsoft Windows, PowerPoint, Word, Excel, and Outlook, and be able to design

custom presentations and  reports as necessary. 

f.   Other Skills

 3.    Physical Requirements

  • Regularly required to sit and talk/listen
  • Occasionally required to stand, walk, use hands to pick-up, handle or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
  •  Occasionally lift and/or move up to 40 pounds. 
  • Must be able to drive/ride in vehicle for up to 4 hours daily.    
  • Must be able to travel by air in “Coach” class for extended, periodic flights

4.    Education/Experience

  •  Bachelor's degree from four-year college or university
  •  Engineering or Technical/Mechanical orientation and knowledge a must
  •  Minimum of 7 years related experience, with minimum of one year related sales experience    calling on vehicle manufacturers or Tier 1 customers
  •  Or equivalent combination of education and experience

Salary Commensurate with years of experience, but very competitive plus bonus
