As the Director of Developing Communities, you will have the opportunity to:

  1. Work with a nationally recognized best-practice organization with a primary mission of supporting veterans
  2. Select, mentor and guide a team of highly talented Local Program Managers who are building local Warrior Community programs in compliance with the America's Warrior Partnership grant and program model
  3. Serve our country by helping local communities serve their own citizen veterans, who have a multiplicity and diversity of needs
  4. Work with a highly motivated team of professionals in an entrepreneurial environment who continuously demonstrate a passion for helping Warrior Communities become self-sustaining in service to our Veterans upon their transition from active military service

Job Description:

America's Warrior Partnership is growing the number of its supported communities almost four-fold in the next 10 months. To support this growth, they must recruit a highly self-reliant Leader/Manager who possesses a similarly strong passion for both the AWP mission and has the entrepreneurial energy and skill to help grow and develop new Warrior-Centric communities around the nation.   This individual will be the key AWP representative in the first year of the Warrior-Centric Community efforts, and will stay with that community for at least a year to 16 months to mentor, guide and coach the local community staff and volunteers.

The Director of Developing Communities will work with approximately four local communities who are at different stages of their development, and who will, after 12-16 months, be transferred to AWP management who are working with more established communities.   The Director of Developing Communities is a new position, and one that will provide an opportunity for the right candidate to add their considerable perspective to the development efforts.

Because AWP’s goal is to establish effective community programs and ensure communities are self-sustaining, the main focus in this position is to support the initial growth of the Warrior-Centric communities until they are making considerable progress toward the grant metrics required by the AWP Grant.   Proactive assistance is given to these new communities through monitoring their adherence to the grant metrics, and also mentoring and teaching best-practices, based on the AWP successful community model.    Process thinking and continuous improvement models would provide a helpful perspective in coaching these communities.
