NEXT High School in Greenville, SC is seeking candidates for the position of CEO of its highly innovative and progressive Charter High School, with a mission of: Preparing Young People for Life after School.

 

NEXT High School is seeking a thoughtful, innovative leader/manager whose role it will be to develop and mentor a team of educators and other professionals to deliver an innovative, historic, iconic, public, and free high school to the young people of South Carolina.  Ultimately, thousands of students and parents will be affected by the efforts of NEXT High School and the efforts of the CEO and his/her staff.  They will be charged with building, leading and mentoring the team that will deliver the results to the students and the community.

If you are a visionary leader, see yourself as a builder for improving education for high school students forever, have an Advanced Degree (Masters/Ed.D./Ph.D./MBA),   and have at least three years in a Business or Organizational Leadership position OR one year as an Educational Administrator, and preferably have experience in project-based learning either in education or a corporate environment, then we are interested in hearing from you.

Next High School (NHS) is a free, public high school currently enrolling rising freshmen for the 2015-16 school year.  After years of planning and working, NHS is bringing a proven yet innovative model of individualized education using project-based learning coupled with online delivered instruction to Upstate, South Carolina.

NHS is not simply a technical or vocational high school.  In order to prepare young people for the yet unknown future, NHS must not only educate students with skills but also teach them to use their minds.  All instruction and projects will challenge students to use both their hands and their heads. With every project, students will be challenged to integrate reading and the arts into delivering high quality practical results.

NEXT HS will be based around 4 pillars:   1) Project-based learning, 2) be technology-driven 3) have flexible space and 4) have flexible time.  Students will work with teachers to create individualized schedules and deadlines for projects and be free to work on their own and be individually responsible for completing their own work. 

  • The Charter agreement for funding from the State of South Carolina is a promise by NEXT High School to goals related to the following: 
    •   Number of Patents applied for
    •   Number of Businesses started
    •   Number of Internships
    •   Number of Community Service Hours
    •   Amount of scholarships awarded (529 Educational Savings Plans)

Job Description:

 

It will be the Executive Director’s purpose to carry out the mission of NEXT High School with all appropriate effort and creativity. The Executive Director will:

  1. Report to the Board of Directors, and as required, be accountable for following policies of all appropriate governmental agencies
  2. Be the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of NEXT High School, with the obligation to speak and represent regarding all matters for NEXT to the local and global community
  1. Enforce all provisions of law and all rules and regulations relating to the management of NEXT High School and other educational, social and recreational activities under the direction of the Board.

 

Chief Executive Officer critical responsibilities also include:

  1. Provide Vision/Leadership & Administration of all NEXT High School Educational practices
  2. Provide management oversight for the Curriculum Director,  but empower him/her to deliver on the day-to-day leadership of NEXT curriculum and faculty
  3. Provide partnerships and alliances with the Greenville Educational Community as well as other communities within the state and surrounding area, including the SC Charter Public School Board of Education
  4. Provide partnerships and alliances to Business and Government communities within the state to nurture future career opportunities for NEXT HS Students and to support fund development for the long-term vision for the school
  5. Provide public relations and awareness of the successes of NEXT High School to the local and global communities.  Be indirectly responsible for long-term fund development efforts based on the anecdotal success and leadership of the School
  6. Provide leadership, management and mentoring to all NEXT High School Administrators and Faculty
  7. Provide leadership and practical direction for the innovative programs to have a positive impact on the students of NEXT HS and their parents
  8. Report to and provide on-going partnership with the NEXT High School Board of Directors
